Reservation Rules
Each sailor can book up to 2 sessions per week, with a maximum of one weekend session, depending on availability.
Bookings can be made up to two weeks in advance.
Weekend sessions are limited to 4 times per person during the summer.
Sailors Aren’t Afraid of Water! As long as there’s wind, we sail! However, for your safety, sessions will be canceled if there is a risk of thunderstorms.
Cancellations & Confirmation
We will contact you if we need to cancel your session due to weather conditions.
Unsure if your session is still on? Call us at 514-694-8021 to confirm.
Weather Can Vary!
The weather at the Pointe-Claire Yacht Club is often different from downtown. If it’s raining in the city, it might still be sunny on the water!
Remember to cancel your adapted transport if your session is canceled.
Dress for the weather and get ready for a great time on the water!
AQVA provides the sailboats, access to facilities, and support from our volunteers and staff. However, each sailor is responsible for their own gear.
We have a few life jackets (PFDs) available on-site, but if you plan to sail regularly, we recommend bringing your own for the best fit and comfort.
What to Bring Based on the Weather & Your Needs
Sun Protection: Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
Hydration: Water bottle
Comfort: Orthopedic cushion (if needed)
Weather-Appropriate Clothing: Rain gear or warm layers if necessary
Safety: Personal flotation device (if you have one)
Footwear: Non-slip shoes (avoid slippery sandals)
Sailing Gloves: Optional but useful
Being well-prepared ensures a comfortable and enjoyable sailing experience!
Of course! Companions are welcome, whether they are a friend, family member, or caregiver.
However, for safety reasons, they will not be able to sail with you unless they have the required sailing certifications.
During your session, they can:
Enjoy the site and watch your sail from the shore
Explore the nearby park for a lovely walk
Discover the charming village of Pointe-Claire with its shops and cafés
Your safety is our priority. Certain weather conditions (light winds, squalls, torrential rains, forecasted/actual thunderstorms or lightning) may lead to the cancellation or postponement of your sailing session.
Cancellation by AQVA
Cancellation by the Sailor
You will not be able to book a session for the next two weeks.
After a second no-show, a $5 fee will be added to your next session.
We understand that unexpected situations may arise, but your cooperation allows us to offer the sailing experience to as many people as possible. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you on the water!
If you’d like to eat or drink before or after your sailing session, please remember to bring your own food and beverages.
Please note that while the Pointe-Claire Yacht Club has a restaurant and bar, these facilities are reserved exclusively for their members.
Plan ahead to stay refreshed and energized for your sailing experience!
Accessible washrooms are available:
Next to the AQVA office
In the Yacht Club locker rooms
However, our team is unable to provide assistance to access them. If you require help, please arrange for a companion.
Pointe-Claire Yacht Club Address: 1, Avenue Cartier, Pointe-Claire, QC
Location of the Adapted Transport (STM) Sign:
The sign is located near the gated door close to the lake, at the club’s second entrance.
We have implemented several solutions to ensure a secure and comfortable transfer for all our sailors, based on their needs:
Independence or Transfer Bench
Some sailors can board and disembark independently or with the help of an adapted transfer bench.
Pivoting Lift System
For those who need assistance, we use an electric lift system with a sling placed under the person. Straps are attached to the lift, which gently raises the sailor. The lift is mounted on a pivoting arm, allowing safe positioning over the sailboat seat before being lowered smoothly.
This transfer method is designed to be completely safe and requires no physical effort from staff, ensuring a comfortable and worry-free experience for every sailor.
We are committed to making every sailing session accessible and enjoyable for everyone!
